お兄さんからもらった大量のスパイス、大活躍。

Using the lots of spice from my brother, I enjoy Indian cooking. I drink Masala-tea every day. This is the curry and Nan.

Long, hard cycling

I finally went to the hairsalon I had mentioned here before. That hair salon is one of my most favorite places around here. I had my digital camera in my pocket and was going to take some photos of beautiful autumn scenery on my way. I thought it would be a nice ride, but I was totally wrong. It was far from "nice" but very hard and tiring cycling. I have never had such a hard work before. Because I had to go up the endless slopes to where that hairsalon is. There was not a road that goes down even for 1 meter. I had to keep pedaling all the way. Guess how long it took me?? 1 hour and 40 minutes. I was exhausted. Of all the stupid ideas of mine recently, this trial was the worst.
To make it worse, when I finished having my hair cut, it was already dark and cold enough. This time, I didn't have to pedal at all because it was downhill. What happened to me on my way back was to be frozen in the chilly evening air , against the intense wind. Good experience! I don't think I would do it again.

八ヶ岳の登山口近くの美容院まで自転車で！という念願を、昨日ついに果たした。綺麗な写真など撮りながら行こう、なんてカメラ持参で浮かれて行った。しかし現実は甘くなかったのです。最初から最後まで、ずっと上り坂で、下りは一瞬たりともなく、１時間４０分もかかった。なんと表現したらいいかわからないくらい、疲れました。おまけに、帰る頃には日も落ちて寒く、猛スピードで下り続けたのですから、体中が凍りつくように寒かった。あぁ、するんじゃなかった、こんなこと。最近の中で、最もバカな思いつきでした。勉強になりました・・・・・もうしないと思うな。

山の予定がキャンセルになり、日曜も家で過ごすことになった。抜けるように真っ青な秋空の下、夏の間ずっと美味しい野菜を食べさせてくれた畑のお手入れをしました。 夕方、ベランダからこん Mt.Fuji from my balcony 　　　なに綺麗なピンクの富士山が見えました。静かな休日も、悪くない。

今年はささげも作りました。実をならせておくと、豆が取れます。

静かな週末

「月出でて萬松寒し」　　　　　　　　　　 土曜に「七事式」という特別なお稽古をやりました。花を生ける人、炭をつぐ人、香をたく人、お濃茶を点てる人、お薄を点てる人、と５人にそれぞれ役割が与えられ、代わる代わる役割を果たします。全部やると１時間半強くらいが理想らしいけれど、私達の七事式は２時間以上かかってしまいました。

On Saturday we had a special tea ceremony lesson called "Shichijishiki", which is done by 5 experienced people; one to arrange flowers, the second to supply charcoal, the third to warm the incense, the forth to serve thick tea, the last to serve light tea. The whole process took us two hours.

水曜に、またもや登山に。
空手黒帯３人娘の、楽しい１日となりました。
今回は爺ヶ岳日帰りという、のんびりコース。
紅葉が綺麗な、落ち葉の散る道を登って、秋を満喫。
あと２週間もすれば、山はもう冬の装いでしょうか。

We went hiking to Jiigatake, which is next to Kashima-yari.
Walking the mountain path covered with colourful fallen leaves was nice.
We ( black-belt girls) did some karate performance at the peak of Jiigatake. Great kicking, isn't it?
小さなコンパクトカメラでは、これが限界。実物はもっともっと鮮やかなんだけど。

Our Hiking - Karasawa to Oku-hotaka-dake

We went 3-day hiking this weekend.
The first day was rainy but the second and third day were sunny. This was the best autumn colors I have ever seen.
These photos are much less beautiful than it really was.
Camping was also fun and exciting.

奥穂高山頂より西穂高岳をのぞむ

週末に２泊３日のテント泊登山に行きました。
涸沢にテントを張り、そこをベースに奥穂高岳へ。
涸沢は燃える紅葉。私が今まで見た中で一番美しい紅葉風景でした。
写真ではその半分も伝わらないのが残念。テント泊の自炊登山は本当に楽しい！

初日は雨、２日目３日目は快晴。

A Life with a Bike

兄から送られてきた素敵な自転車のお陰で、生活に変化が出てきました。普通のママチャリではなくて、クロスバイクという物らしいのですが、これが実に良い。通勤はもちろん、町内の移動は全てこれです。空手の稽古も、道着を着て自転車で（アヤシイ？）。もうちょっと慣れたら、お茶のお稽古にも、諏訪や茅野までも行ってみたい。　でも、この自転車で行ったらさぞかし素敵だろう、と思う場所は、私の大好きな美容院です。　八ヶ岳の登山口の近くの、森の中にあるあの美容院に、秋風に吹かれながらこいで行ったら、本当に気持ちよさそう！
車は楽で便利だから、今まで自転車で出かけたいなんて考えなかったけど、自転車のある生活がこんんなに素敵だとは！　車の後部座席をたたんで、自転車が積めるようにがんばってみたけど、無理でした。綺麗な場所へ行って、自転車に乗りたかったんだけどな。雪が降るまで、しばらく自転車ライフを楽しもうと思います。お兄さんに、感謝しなくちゃ。

My life is changing, thanks to the things from my brother. I've got a nice bike, called cross-bike(is it a Japanese-English?) from him. Now I ride my bike to everywhere. To work, to supermarkets, to Karate class in my white Karate wear, to Togei, to tea ceremony (not yet but hopefully), and maybe to Suwa or Chino someday? And one more place I really want to bike to is my favorite hair salon, which is in the woods and is close to an approach to Yatsugatake. Biking to that hair salon in a relaxing autumn afternoon in the breeze must be wonderful.
Before getting this bike, I have never thought of going somewhere by bike. Driving is easier and more comfortable, but riding on a bike is So Nice! I even tried to make space in my car ( though I failed ) to load my bike, for going cycling to some beautiful places.
It will snow soon. Till then, I enjoy my life with a bike.
