the old couple

These are photos of my parents last month. They were leaving for a trip to Hokkaido and I drove them to Matsumoto airport. My mom bought a wide-brimmed hat for the trip and the hat was so big that my dad made fun of it. My mom has terrible eye sight and she's too old to read small letters. So she asked me to write a sign on her tiny toilet set. 「あ」stands for 「洗う」, which means face-washing soap, 「け」stands for 「化粧水」, which means lotion. The last one without any signs is emulsion. Oh, I cannot believe she got that old.
両親が北海道旅行に行くというので、先日空港まで送って行きました。母はつばの広い帽子を買って、それがあまりに大きいもんだから、父にからかわれていました。母は目が悪く老眼も手伝って、旅行用化粧品の小さいチューブが、どれが何だか読めません。頼まれて、洗顔料は洗うの　あ　化粧水の　け　などとマジックで書いてあげたけど、こんな時、両親の老いを実感します。

time to dry my umeboshi

梅雨が明けたので、いよいよ最終段階。漬けた梅を今朝から干し始めました。
急な夕立が降りませんように！
Finally it is time to dry my umeboshi. Hopefully we will have fine weather this week. Yellow ones are umeboshi without shiso, pink-coloured ones are with shiso.

考えなしにやたらに植えた庭の野菜は、日々巨大化してお互いに邪魔をしあっています。きうりやししとうも収穫最盛期。
